About This Product

The one kit where getting it wrong is not an option — because the ancestors are watching. Shradh (Pitru Paksha) is the 16-day period when Hindu families honour their departed ancestors through specific tarpan rituals. The samagri requirements are strict and non-negotiable: black sesame seeds, barley, kush grass, white chandan — and absolutely no red items, no haldi, no kumkum. A single incorrect ingredient invalidates the ritual in orthodox tradition. This kit is assembled with that precision. Fourteen items, each selected for strict Shastra compliance. The kush grass (darbha) ring is the item most difficult to source in diaspora markets — its inclusion alone justifies the kit format. Black sesame seeds and barley are prescribed specifically for Pitru tarpan and are not interchangeable with regular cooking ingredients. White sandalwood powder replaces the standard chandan for ancestor rites. The commercial window is concentrated: Pitru Paksha falls in September–October (Ashwin month), and demand spikes sharply for exactly 16 days. Families who perform Shradh do so every year without exception — this is obligation, not optional devotion. For importers, this means reliable annual reorders from the same customer base. In diaspora markets, Shradh kits solve a genuine sourcing problem. Kush grass, specific sesame varieties, and Shastra-compliant tarpan ingredients are not available in standard grocery stores. The kit eliminates the search entirely. Strictly compliant: no red items, no haldi, no kumkum included. Available for private label with custom packaging. MOQ on request.

Pitru Paksha — the fortnight of ancestors — prescribes tarpan with black sesame, barley, and kush grass: ingredients that belong exclusively to ancestor rites and carry no crossover with auspicious worship. The tradition’s insistence on white cloth and white chandan reflects a deliberate separation from the red-and-yellow palette of celebratory puja.
