Govardhan Puja remembers Krishna lifting Mount Govardhan to shelter Vrindavan from Indra’s storm. Annakut, the “mountain of food”, celebrates abundance.
On this fourth day of Diwali, food offerings take precedence over flame: after the rows of diyas on Diwali night, the household now offers its abundance as food.
